"This was the friendliest, most delightful experience I’ve ever had in a hardware store. I’m so glad I forgot that I needed a large sponge, and that Google Maps told me j was across the street from an ACE Hardware! I have that thing where I don’t want to be a bother to anyone, so in typical male fashion I walk in kinda trying to avoid being helped. But a woman approached me — a woman who seemed like she was having a wonderful day — asked what I was looking for — and made sure I saw ALL my options as there is more than one type of giant sponge in more than one aisle. I bought them both. Imagine if every hardware store were this pleasant!! I have a new favorite place!!!"

"I tripped over a plastic box full of inventory that had been left sitting on the sales floor, waiting to be stocked or hung. I caught myself, but barely. That box had no business being abandoned in a customer walkway like a hardware-store landmine. I walked away with an injured wrist and a bruise on my forearm. Lucky me. Had I not caught myself, this could have been a very different review, possibly written from a hospital bed, or as a letter from a law firm. I told a manager what happened. His response was mumbled, unclear, and gave me the distinct impression that this was just the natural order of things: boxes in the aisles, customers dodging them, everyone pretending it’s fine. It is not fine. I could not find any public Ace Hardware corporate store guide that endorses leaving unattended boxes of inventory in customer aisles where they create obvious tripping hazards. Ace itself recognizes that unattended items can raise safety concerns, and this store’s handling of the situation did not reflect that standard."
